Race dependent class skills

#1 Post by Strongpoint »

One more idea to make races differ more

Add locked racial dependent class skill per class or metaclass form other class (Probably locked to not unbalance the situation)

I mean stuff like

Undead archmages and alchemists get necrotic minions tree

All halfling warriors get, hmm, Cunning\tactics tree

All warrior yeeks get, let's say, Psi-fighting (OK, probably ability to telekinetically wield the third weapon is too much.... even for a category point, even for a melee yeek... But that fits so nicely thematicwise)

All shaloren celestials get spell\Phantasm tree

And so on, so on

Bassically every class (or metaclass) should have separate "racial" class that wary depending on what kind of special training member of the class of that race could get

Probably new trees can be made just for that purpose, but that would need more work than reusing trees from other classes, and, IMO, less fun

I'm laughing pretty hard at the idea of Skeleton Archmages getting one of the best trees in the game for literally any class. At least it's semi-redundant for Alchemist.

Having said that, it's not a terrible idea overall, for adding to racial distinctiveness, even if I don't agree on the specific categories.

The main problem is that Class categories are supposed to be something that not everyone can learn and require extraordinary conditions to actually obtain(and probably ones linked to your current class skills), rather than something general, from what I recall DarkGod saying before. So basically it would have to be secondary Generic trees, as such, or unique talents that don't come from a category.
