Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Sorry for the double post, but we have some exciting news: We are in the alpha testing phase! At the moment, Nate and I are doing all testing; we'll open things during the beta phase.

Surely you can make an exception for your dark god ?

[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

By all means sir! I don't happen to know your email address; would you mind sending me the address in a PM?
Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Important announcement everyone! nate and I will be uploading the first public version of the addon early next week! I will post the thread there and include a link here so you can keep up to date!
It includes:
The Wyrdthief class, currently unlocked (though that may change in the future, I'm thinking a quest involving stealing the class from Eden, the thief of footwear fame, maybe...), a sly and crafty thief that steals the very luck from his foes!
A brand new resource, Fortune, which may be a little more than a resource.
A new item type: Cards! They go in your quiver slot, and the Wyrdthief can use them to perform amazing tricks! (The oracle will be able to do more, and the champion will be able to do something with them as well)
Code written by the incomparable nate, without whom none of this would be possible!
"Art" by me.
Probably unbalanced numbers! Hopefully very few bugs.

Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Ummmmm... possible consideration, wasn't the 'Eden' character based off one of the classic DitL characters some forum-goer had? (Much as I belive the 'Burb the snow giant' is based off our own Burb Lulls and there many (crazy?) writings (hence the ingame description.)... Would this potentially create some conflict?Fayd wrote:Important announcement everyone! nate and I will be uploading the first public version of the addon early next week! In fact, I just checked. Eden the Rogue was a DitL character BY Burb Lulls. Miiiiight wanna run the idea past them, to potentially avoid offence?
Currently playing under the name Aura of the Dawn 4 down, 227 to go!

I did not know that, I think we can make our own character, no problem; If he WANTS to be involved that's another story.

I've got no problems with Eden being used, go for it!

I.. Wow. OK. I'll run my idea of a quest past you all the same, once I get it written. Also we wanted to name an artifact Deck "The Hand of Eden," if you'd be ok with it.
Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Should Wyrdthief be able to use the assassin poison tree? Would make sense.
Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Ok, one error loop crash later. There seems to be some bug with things standing in lava and things encased in walls. Springs up a bunch of error windows.
Also, I dont know if "You dance lightly" is a Wyrdthief thing or not, but it happens constantly. Not sure if it wastes turns or not, but it does not allow you to autopickup items if you walk over a tile with an item and dance lightly.
As to the balance, holy crap. I see that the idea is to either go negative luck, positive luck, or to weave inbetween with Fortutious, but at most times it feels inconvenient. Steal luck only recovers a miniscule amounts, especially early game and casting it in melee range of physically adept enemies earns a quick stun and a hell of a beatdown. All the good passive bonuses become outright deadly to you if you so much as go under the 100 fortune threshold(This is incredibly cruel early game, you literally go up to 0 accuracy and defense), but are incomparably high if you just dont use any fortune draining ability and sit on max fortune.
It pretty much maxed out my accuracy, saves, defense and ranged defense, gave me higher life regen than a warrior class tree and allowed me to max out my critical strike chance to nearly 100% with all the other possible class benefits in that area.
It was still the most fun I've had with a rogue class sofar.

Oh, it may help to post bug reports in the thread for the addon; this was a helpful environment for us to foster and create the ideas, but we might not catch the bug report here when we have an active addon thread in the addon subforum.
Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Would it be possible to give each class a thematically different artifact?
Wyrdthief is obviously the sly type who would be well-suited to a gambler type, and most importantly cheating. A poker theme is great for them I think.
Oracle could use a crystal ball, magic mirror, tarot cards, or some other fortune-telling tool. They're the shady fortune teller that may either affect future directly or by interpreting cryptic fortunes in a way that suits them, primarily focused on manipulating the fates of others.
Champion I think is the trickiest one. They're the earnest warriors who take fate head-on. Sometimes it supports them, sometimes it throws challenges at them, for great rewards should they succeed. They don't strike me as the type who would have either the Wyrdthief's gambler tendencies nor the Oracle's manipulative style. I think it would be really cool if they could have a talent tree that augments enemy strength or influences the strength/frequency of rares, buffs bosses, etc, in exchange for boons upon beating them. I don't know if something like that can be implemented, but thematically it could still work on a smaller scale such as gaining buffs in response to failing a save or getting critted.

Re: Fate Meta-Class: Subclasses: Wyrdthief, Oracle, Champion
Could you post the debug message? These things can depend highly on the circumstances, and it's probably something simple where if you posted the log, I could fix it in two seconds-- versus hours of trying to recreate the problem. EDIT: NM, something similar has been posted elsewhere, that's probably the same thing; I'll have it fixed in next version (I'll do a quick lava test)AlexMdle wrote:Ok, one error loop crash later. Well, Wyrdthieves are fragile, that's for sure. What I've noticed in play is that Steal Luck is worthwhile regardless of your Fortune, because getting a free Luck debuff on top of a physical attack really makes the difference between getting beat-down and surviving. I'm hoping that a little bit of Luck Vision should make this more clear.Steal luck only recovers a miniscule amounts, especially early game and casting it in melee range of physically adept enemies earns a quick stun and a hell of a beatdown
Right now, I believe we're looking at Oracles having more card-related abilities than Wyrdthieves. (Is that right Fayd?) Nothing planned for Champions yet. I don't think they'll need any new artifacts, but this...Sedrahl wrote:Would it be possible to give each class a thematically different artifact?
