I could see giants as a great addition. I'd say they're a metarace though, individual race would be like mountain trolls (troll as a subset of giants) and frost giant. Each one would get like a boost to an elemental damage type or two, slightly different racial boosts, and a couple of things that work well with "their" element. I'd say STR and CON for all, and boost MAG or WIL based on actual race, or STR MAG for all, we don't have anybody that boosts both. Thematically, I see them making amazing AB's or Wyrmics, both would fit...

I was not talking about anime. I have modelled them after the Kzintis, a very big cat-like sentient race, but they also exist in a number of fantasy worlds, such as Bane of the Cosmic Forge trilogy.

I don't see why they don't fit, especially when the milieu is still developing.

Crim, The Red Thunder wrote: Definitely agree on the name, and to be fair, you have felinoids in other places. (David Weber novels, Doctor Who (only real pretext for adding them, I guess.), The aforementioned Elder Scrolls series, etc.) Just not sure we have any real place for them in Maj'Eyal. I also don't think of cats as 'strong'. Fast, cunning, nimble, but strength wouldn't be a strength of theirs. Ad with those qualifications, Halflings already fill the role. What exactly could make them unusual or unique here?
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't say tigers and lions are weaklings. Neither are leopards, panthers, jaguars, cougars... The only weak big cats are cheetahs.

I've always loved the D&D Planetouched races; humanoids affected by angels, demons, and elemental spirits and bear traits of them. For Maj'Eyal there could still be the Elemental-blooded; perhaps Oths for short (As that's what most elemental names end with, Faeros excepted). Humans (or other races perhaps) that have some small elemental heritage.

I also like the dragon-blooded in any place they show up, D&D, DCSS. I'm not sure how well it fits in Maj'Eyal, but still. I like the way that DCSS handles it, with some amount of random chance. Perhaps a race that gains their racial generic tree at 10, and it is chosen from a random (weighted) list, with Fire, Cold, Storm, Sand, and Acid being more common and Multi-Hued being rarer. Perhaps elemental talents known could influence your odds of obtaining a particular color (and Wyrmics have a much greater chance of being Multi-Hued).

The only problem I see with Fayd's recommendation is that Maj'Eyal has no history lore of cross-breeding. We might do a race or two that were imbued with elemental powers during the Age of Allure, like the Highers, or maybe a race that's been imbued with natural powers to counter such effects, though. I'd say a dragon-influenced race would have to be nature-bonded, and thus a more recent event.

The Kzinti would be quite interesting to play as.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
