Provided you know how to build said Archmage. Plus there are 20-something other classes around, most of which aren't easier to win with.skein wrote:They are not that easy to win with though. It is FAR easier to win as an archmage.
But... getting killed is rather the expected consequence of opening Dreadfell vaults. I mean, I do it too, but there's really no grounds to complain if it goes horribly, horribly wrong. And Alchemists have pretty good health too - if you get one-shotted playing them, what ever would you do with a rogue? And why aren't you scouting with your golem?skein wrote: This was made even worse recently by making mobs in vaults have to see you before you can damage them. You used to be able to throw bombs around corners on the assumption that something was there, this no longer works. (and gets me killed in dreadfell from opening the damn undead pits and getting one shotted by mages).
Bombs' cooldown is ridiculously low, as is their mana cost. Fireflash and Blastwave need to be backed up with utility abilities - or rather, they don't, and the fact that they are is what makes AM powerful. Seriously, where else do you see an AoE comparable with bombs on a CD of 3? Nowhere, that's where.skein wrote: Bombs are very powerful but they have a cooldown and only outpace other aoes in the endgame. Fireflash and Blastwave do a huge amount of damage as well and are backed up with real defenses and real movement abilities.
They are not all that squishy. They have a good life rating and can pump constitution as much as they want. And with what else do you want us to compare Alchemists with, if not other classes? Oozing Horrors? Spire Wyrms?skein wrote: You are making the wrong comparison when you compare an alchemist to other classes.
