Unarmed stuff.
Hi.
I love the Brawler class. However, I find as an undead the nature powers "refusing" to Proc frustrating since these are mostly the best AOE effects.
If possible can we have a "warning" in the description? Even better and more preferable, can there be a Brawler "Arcane Weapon conversion" (Maybe based from the skill) that at level 5 allows a Brawler to Proc Nature related effects on an item?

Re: Unarmed stuff.
Which powers are you talking about, exactly? I don't think the brawler can get any wild-gifts without betraying an escort (which undead can't do).
Re: Unarmed stuff.
Probably referring to the glove/gauntlet procs. There's a few nature talents that can trigger off glove egos, so... yeah. Didn't know that undead are prevented from triggering nature stuff like that... pretty sure undead can trigger otherwise nature powered activate items (they can use cure poison totems, iirc, ferex), just not use the talents. So not rushing claws granted by the rushing totems, but the totems themselves, sure (which is maybe a little inconsistent, I'unno.).
I'd have to double check t'make sure that's what's happening, though. And there's no telling if it's intended or not... DG has a bit of a hard-on for limited undead access to nature powered stuff
As for wilder talents without betraying escorts, there's always harmony. You can also get a few temporary talents via totems, but, as noted, those don't work on an undead (which is a bit of a shame, bleh).

Re: Unarmed stuff.
Seems somewhat irrational to me that an item would refuse to proc, unless this was specifically a sentient item (like an artifact). Regardless, I think this is a case where gameplay and clarity should win out over lore.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: Unarmed stuff.
I actually like it, as long as it is apparent to the player why this happens.bricks wrote:Seems somewhat irrational to me that an item would refuse to proc, unless this was specifically a sentient item (like an artifact). Undead should be classified as Nature-Disrupting.
Because I'd like Nature-Disrupting powered items so I'm suggesting it as a shameless plug.
Could add a few more Taints as well and class them as Nature-Disrupting.
Undead would have a few more options for inscriptions/equips and those annoying Wilder's would be restricted from using something even without taking Anti-Magic.
...I've had too much suger.

Re: Unarmed stuff.
Right...like an Arcane Storm or energy burst......Since items CAN be both Arcane and Nature and Psionic....
And again, you CAN use Eel skin armor to use lightning. But guanlets Proc reads: "You are out of touch with Nature and cannot use Sand Breath" (For example.)

Re: Unarmed stuff.
So the problem is that undead can't proc wild gifts by punching people but can use wild gifts by activating an item? That sounds like a bug to me. The "[wild gift] on hit" effects originate from the item just like the "can be used to activate [wild gift]" ones. They should both work just as well.
Just a side note: Undead don't get Harmony. They can't play the classes that start with it, and they don't get it when they eat the Queen's Heart. Though good call on the talents from totems (eg Lay Web from webbed totems). Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I once got Spit Poison from a Loremaster...Frumple wrote:As for wilder talents without betraying escorts, there's always harmony. Re: Unarmed stuff.
Ah, yeah, I was speaking of brawlers in general, not just undead. Poor guys don't get anything besides the level from eating the heart, though it'd be pretty awesome if they did.
Re: Unarmed stuff.
Yeah Undead should get something else, Maybe a vim tree, or a new generic tree just for them, "feast on the living" or such
Re: Unarmed stuff.
Any updates on this? I consider this a bug and think it should be fixed.Cittidude2 wrote:Hi.

Egos and their associated procs are an attribute of the equipment, not the character that wears them. It's not the undead char using a talent, it's the piece of equipment. At least that is how I justify it.
Re: Unarmed stuff.
I'm guessing procs use the no resource flag to stop the talents having a cost. That could be checked to allow it to trigger for undead brawlers.
