Flag all class innates as non-spells?

#1 Post by magelike »

This might be a bit of a stretch, but currently, Paradox Mages and Temporal Wardens are a couple of the only classes that cannot betray to Zigur thanks to their innate Spacetime Weaving ability. I haven't checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if there are other classes with this issue as well (possibly Alchemist with Refit Golem). If those skills were no longer flagged as spells, they would be able to betray like the other arcane classes.

I'd suggest the opposite and say no arcane classes should be able to betray escorts to Zigur. If Zigur is hidden from your character on the world map then they betrayal option should also not exist.

I shrug and am neutral on the idea.

Then I suggest making Mobility a Rogue reward, retool them into "Ruffians"(nothing much needed besides the name), then have them give the current AM Mobility rewards as well as their current ones.

Currently, Rogues effectively don't give a category. They theoretically unlock Cunning/Survival but every single class in the game has this locked, so they can't give it to anyone.

To replace the old reward, have Sun Paladins give Finer Energy Manipulation instead as their unlockable AM category. (If this being an L10 category is a problem, simply move it out of that range. This only benefits Cornac Mindslayer, which is a rather shoddy combo anyways IMO and could use a little help.)

If there's another major reward to trying to finangle a specific AM escort, for mages, I don't really know it. Dream Walk is nice, but so is Precognition, and for the most part most of the abilities involved are probably not something I would suggest a beginner put on their arcane skill user over the normal arcane alternative. Many of them run off Magic, which they are almost always building up to start with-the same cannot necessarily be said of Will and Cunning.

Basically, instead of taking away the neat idea, or enabling it to be really easy in unthematic ways, why not just kill the one reason anyone's really going to do it, outside of mostly humor oriented builds? Unless I'm missing something here.

The main/only reason I'd want this, is because casters/hybrids are all heavy Willpower based, and AM is the only way to get psiblades, and I love me some psiblades. Though, admittedly, it's pretty unthematic.
