just a couple ideas. I'm finding it rather unbelievable that nothing except a shield or knife can go in the other hand.
1) empty hand = grapple opportunity, or chance to punch for stun/daze on main hand hit, or grab to disarm
2) in addition to knife, hand axe, cudgel, or chain/net, with hand axe and cudgel getting bonuses from weapon mastery, chain maybe its own thing/exotic weapon, and cudgel also maybe special for stun/daze chance
3) an ambidexterity tree that allows full size weapons in the offhand
offhand

Re: offhand
1. Brawlers grapple and punch, not really anyone else.
2. Weapon Mastery is powerful enough...
3. Reavers man, reavers.

Re: offhand
Some exotic offhand weapons would be cool. Trident + net, anyone? I think a one-handed + empty hand talent category would be interesting, too, especially if it focused on disarms and redirecting attacks. Ambidexterity would really step on Reaver's toes.
Also, as I noted in an earlier topic, daggers seem to get the shaft when it comes to drops (since all item types drop at the same rate but all one-handed and two-handed weapons are roughly interchangeable). Really annoying and apparent for rogues. Adding new offhand weapons would help this somewhat, though it would also put more of a burden on classes that don't use them. All I know is that I'm lucky to find an upgrade dagger before the Assassin Lord.

Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
