Nerf Crowd control NAO
Hello, i had 240 hp (full) and i was instantly 1shotted from a bloated horror in lake of nur,
he confused me for 8 turns, and then killed me with his 125 mind sear.
Nothing works in this game :
a) dying with full hp to trash mobs (bloated horror).
b) Immunities sucks: 90% confusion will mean 10% chance to instant die.
c) Saves suck: having full save gear i managed to reduce "Ukris permastun" by 0 turns before dying to him.
You give a lot of "free choice" for items in this game "madgod" :
Relying on retarded artifacts that grant overpowered 100% stun/confusion resistance to finish the game, and if u dont have it u just die in 1 crowd control. You dont have choice, its the same gear everyone uses, the overpowered artifacts. Dont call this an rpg, because there is only 1 item set in this game (AND YOU KNOW IT)!!!
FU : i wont use inscriptions, you wont tell me what to do.
And for the record NOT A SINGLE ONE DROPPED !!!
I ragequited and i created a cheat char to test how broken the game mechanics are:
1)Attacks never hit: u cant hit unique generated bosses with 776% evasion that lats 117 turns, even with 9999999999 dex.warriors, bye
2) Spells dont scale: spellpower caps at 100, and magic doesnt increase the power of your spells[their description LIES],
having 9999999 magic is the same as 300 magic, the spell dmg wasnt changed at all, it still dealt 200 dmg. Mages, bye.
3) bosses kill u in 1 hit:. Is this a permadeath game ? no, it is a 1 hit wonder, bye.
BB, i go to play another game, you wont miss me. No wonder why this game isnt popular. Enjoy your 1 hit wonderness alone.

I have to agree the new changes to the game does seem to kind of "max" the game's damage output apparently.
However the bosses (except random ones) will be limited by the same restrictions. So getting a bit more than 240 HP can help you a lot in surviving.
About the confusion... Yeah, I agree that those confusions last too long and saves reduce them not by enough. I've called confusion the "new" stun. Or confusion resistance the new stun resistance. There is not enough items that grant that and pinning resist in my opinion.
Anyway, the game probably won't be for everyone, but I would suggest try a wyrmic with icy skin. Armor helps a lot (only against physical), but they are quite a bit tougher than most other classes.
Also, if you don't play other roguelikes with healing potions, then I guess not playing with infusions/runes is fine, but you really should think of them as the equivalent of healing potions and teleport scrolls..

Trolls are a sign of popularity. 
It still in beta and stun was much more powerful in earlier versions but got nerfed, confusion is in a similar situation right now.

The game has no balance, because it isn't an rpg. The game is balanced for a lv50 item set, that has 100% all resists. Ok so now whoever doesnt have this item MUST die in 1 hit.
a) no 100% stun resist, bye. So lets make all monsters have 30-90 turns stun [ukris has Math.Infinite = permastun], since lv50s will be immune, they wont mind. Just to make sure that no stun resist = death. For all you suckers bellow lv25 that didnt find a set with 100% stun resist, bye uninstall.
b) no 100% confision resist, bye. So you the lv25s managed to get stun resist ? k new trend, no confusion resist bye ? get out of here, GTFO i said, bye. lets make confusion stronger that has 400% bigger duration to be sure.
c) expansion : no 100% death resist ? just die from lv 51 death slimes.

The game designer used flawed formulas on purpose. Why ? 99% resist = no resist. Because there is 1% chance that you instantly die, if it hits and then you will waste 70 hours of playing for nothing = money for the developer
This trend of this game is not only in resistances :
1) not enough fire, ice resist ? die in 1 hit from mages when u open the door by taking 2500 dmg when u have 1200 hp. At least they were gentle when impregnating u.
2) not enough dps to pass boss "enrage" timer? die because he spawns 4-6 skeletons every second, that become frost balls that 1 shot u.

Edge, i have a strong urge to sensor you on that post. It really adds nothing while max's at least tells that he feels hard done by especially confusion. Something which I too have felt done in by, especially the long lasting ones like 8 turns.

I second the aliens idea.
Whilst the tone of Max's post isn't as lovely as one might like, the frustration experienced by new players shouldn't be ignored. I similarly think the way 90% stun resist isn't good enough is bad. One shouldn't need 100% to have reliable resistance. As I've suggested before, 90% stun res should reduce the effect by 90%, or something similar, so you see some real benefit from gradual increases of the resist without feeling the need to get 100%.
I'm not sure the other figures on the bosses and such are really accurate, mind. I wonder if he was playing on Insane mode...? Still, it's nice that the inspect creature tab does allow us to identify serious imbalances now.
Also, what the hell does the post title mean? NAO?

If truth is "trolling" then i am sorry for you edge2054 and Dekar. I said nothing to flame, but i guess you are too busy copy pasting the same answer in every thread.
When someone talks about crowd control, you show up trying to monopolise the thread, "its balanced", you are troll for "daring to speak" instant deaths are working as intented.

The tone of your thread is awful Max, that's why some consider it trolling.
That said, where he _doesn't_ overexaggerate, there is some truth in his words. For example it is too easy for bosses and too hard for the player to become immune to some terrible status effects. Also with bosses those status effects frequently last too long. With some monster crowds they are too frequent. Thus me playing predominantly dwarves

The game is free, the developer only makes donations from people who are kind enough to donate. It might go commercial someday, but for now you should really stfu and be happy with what you're getting (for free). If you feel like the game needs improvement in a certain area then you should be respectful enough to make a constructive post without the snide remarks. If you look around the forums here, everyone posts with a level of respect for not only the developers, but also each other. Beast, you would do very well for yourself to learn from these people. It will take you much farther in life.
Or just keep posting and talking at people the way you are now and see how that works out.
Nobody asked you to download the game and spend "70 hours" on your character. Nobody made you donate a penny to play it. Nobody even said the game is close to finished yet. As a matter of fact, when you downloaded ToME you had to read the word beta at least 7 times between the description, filename, menus in-game, and splattered all over the website.
Beta means unfinished. Free betas work as a testing phase where the developers depend on the people playing it to make suggestions. In a constructive manner. If they can't do that, they get banned from the beta phase and can only play the game again after waiting for it to be released in a store and paying money for it. At this point, you are just a number in someone's pocket.
For right now, you have the privilege of a voice in the development phase. Note the word privilege. People who want to keep their privileges (to drive a car, to own a house, to play a video game for free) do the proper things with them and don't abuse them. Because they can very easily be taken away. Nobody owes you anything.
Other than that, some of your points are indeed valid, sure. Okay good. Bye.

While I can agree to some extent, that there's more balance to be achieved regarding confusion and resistances, I must urge you, as a mental healthcare professional, to seek help.
Maybe I'm lucky to be a member of very friendly and polite forum communities only, but I've never read a post with so much anger, rage, and disrespect, for so little reason. It actually shocked me. I guess I should get 100% shock resistance.
