Talent that redirects projectiles

#1 Post by bloth »

It would be interesting to see a talent that redirected projectiles that were already in the air, either back at those who launched them or at random enemies. It would probably make the most sense for Mindslayers or Doomed to get it, although it could probably be explained for other classes. It would be a very dangerous talent for randbosses to have, though.

That'd be mainly a problem of capping stuff at sane values.

For example, if it worked like this, I don't think it'd be a problem.
  • cooldown 9 turns
  • gives timed "missile reflection" effect for TL + 2 turns
  • effect gets "popped" when used
Even of an NPC had a crazy high TL that let it keep the timed effect continuously, one reflected shot every 9 turns wouldn't be too bad.
Ghoul never existed, this never happened!

Technically Mindslayers do have a talent that redirects projectiles targetted at them - to adjacent squares, though.

I do agree the lack of a projectile reflection effect is somewhat surprising, and it would be nive if they were implemented, but I would not use cooldown as a balancing factor:
rather, have a % chance of the projectile being reflected, and reduce its damage(wth a 100% cap, to avoid rand bosses with super high TL being ridicolous).

So for example, you could have a 25% chance of reflecting projectiles for 50% damage. Also, there could be checks as to which kind of projectiles this applies to - I can see Mindslayers(and even Bulwarks, using their shield)reflecting arrows, slings, physical projectiles, but spells not so much.
