I'm pretty sure that yufra just meant that every time you die, you wind up in the Eidolon realm, and can respec while there (at no additional cost). Number of Eidolon lives is pretty strictly limited, so even if you respec every time you di, you still won't respec all that often.

Personally, I rather like it. Mind you, I play Roguelike pretty much exclusively, so I wouldn't be experiencing it directly. (I'm considering playing an adventure-mode Yeek just so I can get the class unlock, but that's about it.) In any case, the people who are really worried about competing for points and bragging rights (is there anyone?) probably ought to be playing Roguelike mode anyway, and anyone who throws away a life just to get the respec is probably not pursuing best play anyway - in almost every case, they'd be better off continuing to play as long as they can with their choices until they die for other reasons, *then* respeccing. It's also an easy place to fit it in, a good place to explain it for the new characters, and fits really very well with the Eidolon Realm theme of "Okay, and now we're going to get you prepped and ready again so that you can go out there and do this one right." Seems a pretty solid win, really.

Aye, Sirrocco has nailed all the major points of implementation and design that I intended. I also like the idea, but that is neither here nor there.
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended

As a fairly new player who loves adventure mode, the Eidolon-respec idea sounds really great. Seems that it would allow more experimentation with different skills and the ability to recover from less-useful choices without starting over. Even limiting it (e.g., one respec per 10 levels, 3 max; limiting it to removing points from a single skill) would still make it really useful.

Nah, go with the option to completely respec. Why limit it?

When I've been trying out a new class I usually figure out what I've done wrong around lvl 30, which is also a good marker for the start of the endgame. Maybe handing out one respec at that lvl. Alternatively a full respec as you pass through the portal to the far east might be appropriate. Yes you would get some people using it to phase out talents that were previously useful, but the change in setting and in scope makes that kind of growth feel thematic.
