Let the AI know how the value of stairs

I like having stair hopping available, but it is just too easy to do right now. I think having the AI be smart enough to hold the stairs would add some interesting strategy to the game. Maybe even let the intelligent enemies hop so the player has to hold the stairs in some situations.
