Resurrection / lifes change
Hello, i think it would be better idea give a chance of resurrection based on your level instead of lives by level. Most people dont like to lose lives because they feel they are losing something importat (at least it happens to me
) the ecuation could be 75% chance of being resurrected -1% each 2 levels or something similar.
Level 1 character would have 75% of being resurrected, and a level 50 char 50%, is not a bad idea i think

Re: Resurrection / lifes change
That would be really mean. I'm trying to move away from playing Adventure difficulty, but I think the chance should be guaranteed and the amount fixed. Lives are *supposed* to feel special. If you want to play without limited lives, I think donators get access to an infinite-lives difficulty level.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

I really like to have the chance of diying permanently, it would be bored if a character couldnt die. I only think it would be more interesting if you dont know if your character will be resurrected and the concept of "lives" dissapears, but well, all of us have our own and different ideas and all of them are good.
Re: Resurrection / lifes change
I am playinga on infinite lives at the moment. I still feel bad when i die, especially if i die something stupid. Though i've learnt to love it. I cheesed through celia and now i know what to expect next game. But i am enjoying the game more because i know that without some game stopping bug i'll be able to play through - and more importantly - finish the hopefully interesting build i'm making. On adventure i'd die because i suck at the game, and get frustrated that i've invested 10h into that build only to get it killed when i bit off too much to chew.
For me a big part of the fun lies in the build rather than the actual tactics.

I think that you might be unique in that regard. I don't know too many people who would be happy to lose a character on a bad random number draw.lordbubyan wrote:I really like to have the chance of diying permanently, it would be bored if a character couldnt die. Re: Resurrection / lifes change
Just play roguelike. Your resurrection chance is equal to whether or not you find that certain tasty treat. Unless you are a skeleton, in which case its your guaranteed extra life for 5 generic talent points *grins*
If you think having lives are at the same time too easy and too precious to waste. you should probably be playing the rogue-like difficulty setting.
(Although my experience is limited, I've never actually tried adventure mode {For the longest time I thought the eidolon plane was some post-far eastern dungeon I hadn't made it to ^^ )

Re: Resurrection / lifes change
Well, there's plenty of roguelikes that play like that ;) But yeah, really not suitable for this game, and I can't imagine others wanting this feature.
Re: Resurrection / lifes change
Honestly it just sounds like some kind of half-assed jrpg feature.
Re: Resurrection / lifes change
How about just starting the game with 3 lives instead of gaining lives every xyz levels.
/edit oh and then show the 3 lives at the top right of the screen or left under the health bar or something.

Re: Resurrection / lifes change
Earning lives through survival has its own appeal. A game mechanic that rewards you for good play and can't really be abused.
