Give Stone tree to Arcane Blades

#1 Post by Grey »

It's not fair for Archmages to hoard all the cool unlockable trees! The Stone tree in particular would work much better for ABs than for mages:

Earthen Missiles is a nice damage spell that would benefit from being triggered by Arcane Combat. Extremely thematical with the class in my opinion. It would have to have its regular cooldown doubled as per Flame and Lightning.
Body of Stone would add an excellent defensive option to the class, and fits in with the other class sustains.
Earthquake wouldn't be that useful, as it's of high cost and doesn't tie in with the melee stuff that well, but could be handy as an area stun for emergencies. More relevant than some of the other spells the class has anyway.
Crystalline Focus would be immensely useful against bone golems and the like, and again the sustain element fits in with the class well. Far better for ABs than for Archmages.

Of course it would still require a category point to open up, which may put some people off, but I think the lure of Crystalline Focus at least would make many ABs choose to grab this tree. It also adds an extra way to spend class points, which I find they have a bit of an abundance of right now.

Though, stone fist would be actively bad for them to learn, wouldn't it? Since they fight at melee range generally, and (assuming Arcane Combat was changed to work with it) it would randomly trigger and knock enemies out of range.

The Stone tree makes sense, though, especially for Crystalline Focus.

Honestly, why do Arcane Blade trees have to be identical to archmage ones? Perhaps they should be rearranged to remove skills that Arcane Blades are unlikely to want or use, replacing them with more useful ones for that class.
