Darkgod should play more stamina based classes

Re: Darkgod should play more stamina based classes
Brawlers are actually great fun to play, even if the stat advances I end up taking are a bit... weird. (ended up doing con/whatever I needed for next talent in build I was trying)... I rarely had stamina probs because of relentless strikes and QR. Only reason I don't really try em that much anymore, is cuz DG goes and releases new betas just about when I get my brawlers to Daikara/Dreadfell-ish part of the game. Most of them I coulda played on Roguelike even dealing with adventurer parties that I couldn't get away from.
Re: Darkgod should play more stamina based classes
I think the real question (for me) is: Why does will improve con?
Fatigue is supposed to discourage resource users (mages,...) from using heavy armor. All caster-like classes should fall into this.
All in-your-face fighter classes should be able to wear heavy armor, and should be designed like that.
It would make more sense to me to make stamina unaffected by fatigue, while keeping the effect on mana. This could even make sense for hybrid classes like arcane blades who still use mana.
Having stamina scale on willpower and giving fighters a penalty for wearing heavy armor just doesn't make much sense to me.

The problem is that that's making things too rigid. Lightly-armored fighters (and armored mages) should be an option, which means that there should be penalties for heavy armor and advantages to light armor, for everyone.marvalis wrote:I think the real question (for me) is: Why does will improve con?

Keeping options open is better than rigidly forcing everyone of a certain class to build their character the same way.
Re: Darkgod should play more stamina based classes
Playing an armored mage is a pain, though... I tried to design a Battle Alchemist build, and found myself starved for generic points. I wish heavy/massive armor just required strength, not a skill.
Fatigue is a pretty well balanced mechanic, though its effects are difficult to see. Perhaps resource costs that scale with fatigue could be listed as Mana: 12 (10) or similar.

Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
