Escort alternative: Hunters

#1 Post by Grey »

Escorts are all well and fun, but how about now and then we have something slightly different? Some escorts could instead be spawned as "hunters". The hunter is after a specific unique on the level, which will be spawned at least 15 squares away from the start of the level. The unique is a normal critter, but with a name or title. The escort will head straight for the prey, but can be paused or asked for the direction, and of course will now and then get sidetracked by the odd critter in the way. Once the unique is slain you get a reward as per a normal escort.

For the Ziguranth perhaps they would instead encounter a Zigur hunter after a wizard or some magical creature on the level, with some stat bonuses or an added generic point as a reward.

It's a bit less far-fetched than the magic portal (although there do seem to be a lot of those in Maj'Eyal).

This sounds like a great idea, i would really like to see it implemented, though to earn a skill/extra points i think it only fair that the monster being hunted is significantly stronger than the others in the area.

I don't see why it needs to be harder - it's essentially the same as with the escort portals, but with a mobile target.
