Foci Ideas

edge2054> Telepathy, Sympathy (charms the monster)
[13:47] <edge2054> Ablative Shielding - Works like armor but for all damage types. Amount it can protect against is reduced with each attack.

[13:51] <Sus> Perception focus: grants a huge amount of trap detection power and activates for see invisible and that projectile-slowing effect.
[13:51] <edge2054> Psychic Vampirism - Drains resources from the enemy and converts them into resources for you.
[13:52] <Sus> Not The Droid You're Looking For focus: causes all enemies within X tiles to completely ignore your presence for Y turns.
[13:52] <edge2054> Spirit Walk - You leave your body for X turns. In spirit form you can walk through walls and have invisibility but can not effect your environment.
[13:53] <edge2054> Empathic Wound Transfer - Melee range, deals damage to the target depending on amount of health you have missing and heals you for a like amount.
[13:54] <edge2054> Pyschic Images - Mirror Image effect. Creatures get a mental save to ignore the images.
[13:54] <edge2054> Psychic Scream - Inflicts Mind damage and confusion.
[13:55] <edge2054> Mental Fog - AoE that reduces mental saves of all who enter it (probably not good for a foci).
[13:56] <Sus> Mental Doubling: pours your awareness and sentience into a melee weapon that you pick from your pack. The weapon fights alongside you like a summoned creature using the psi_fighting flag for X turns.
[13:57] <edge2054> Possession - Yeah!! Maybe over powered for a foci.
[13:57] <FinalMaster> Blasting - Beam effect that deals mind damage and lowers mental save for all effected
[13:58] <FinalMaster> Pyrokenises - 1 radius ball dealing fire damage based off of Mindpower
[13:59] <FinalMaster> Cryokenises - cold version of Pyrokensieses
[14:00] <edge2054> Mental Fortress - Increases Mental saves by X and breaks all mental effects on the character.
[14:01] <edge2054> Some of the chronomancy stuff could work for sensing the future.
[14:01] <edge2054> Precognition and Foresight would work as psychic foci.
[14:01] <FinalMaster> Site - target npc ; see their LOS for x turns [ala arcane eye but using just their 'locating senses']
[14:03] <edge2054> Optic Severance - Shorts out the optic nerves of all creatures in a radius around you.

Hmm, telekinetic focus things for mindslayer class I presume? You could add a second effect to each of the gems (or replace it for mindslayers) to give these effects. Bloodstone gives life leech, +defense gives shielding, citrine gives detection, + damage ones give damage things, and something else for the rest of them. This could give melee mindslayers a reason to wield a gem instead of a second (or third) weapon. This could lead to too much versatility and inventory management with all of the gems though.

Psionic inscriptions... I assume that this involves implanting a gemstone directly into your flesh. Sounds great.

Some of those inscription ideas look like a possessor class in the making. Leaving your body, possessing a weapon, and of course possession.

Bit of a thread necro, but came up with some more developed ideas for Foci, mostly just variations on chronomancer and psionic skills, but some new ideas as well:

Psionic Barrier Focus: cooldown comparable to shield rune. Instant cast.
Absorbs up to (~ shield rune amount) (100% chance physical, 30% chance each element + blight) damage for (about shield rune amount) turns. Transforms the damage into (one of psi, mana, or stamina, with equal chance) at a rate of (10-30, 5-15, or 8-25) damage to regenerate one point of the resource.

Example: Absorbs up to 231 physical, acid and blight damage for 6 turns. Transforms the damage into mana at a rate of 7 damage to regenerate one point of the resource.

Telekinetic Leap Focus: cooldown comparable to Phase Door Rune
Leap to a location in range (4-10) within line of sight.

Premonition Focus: 20-35 cooldown
Lets you see (3-5) turns into the future. (like chronomancy skills)

Fortitude Focus: 15-25 cooldown, instant cast
Increases all saves by (20-100) for (3-7) turns.

Psychic Rend Focus: 15-30 cooldown, 3-9 range
Hits one target for (20-150) physical damage and (20-150) mind damage, and automatic critical hit (for both mind and physical). (Values are independent, and don't include critical hit multiplier)

Example: Hits one target for 73 physical damage and 35 mind damage, and automatic critical hit.

Scrying Focus: 15-30 cooldown
Maps, lights and detects monsters in a radius of (3-7). May be targeted up to (10-30) squares away.

Borrowed Sight Focus: 10-30 cooldown, 10 range
Tries to blind the target for (3-7) turns, if successful, you gain an arcane eye style effect on it for the duration.

Channelled Force Focus: 20-35 cooldown, instant cast
Gives you (20-70) (two of the elements) damage on melee and ranged attacks.

Example: Gives you 43 cold and 27 lightning damage on melee and ranged attacks.

Anyone else have ideas kicking around that could fit?
