crafting

#1 Post by Miruko »

I was thinking about a crafting system in TOME to make the player creates his own equipment. A lot actual equipment i find is for classes other than mine, let's say i find a purple ring of thievery when i'm playing an archmage, or a very good weapon and i'm a brawler. So why don't allow the player to forge himself the equipment? here some ideas:

There is a smith in the villages wich can train the character:

Crafting tree (generic):

-Exract resources: cut woods, mine ores and kill monsters to gather resources. Increase the rank for chances and higher tier materials.

-Crafting: try to craft things, Increase the rank to have better chance and craft higher tier equipments.

-Reforging: Try to convert an item into it's basic material, let's say i melt a sword in the forge to recover the steel.

Magical Equipment: using some resources (let's say, a snake fang for poison damage on weapons) to infuse magical properties to equipment. Higher the rank greater the number of bonuses on the item targeted and the value. It can be used also to remove an existent bonus or replace it (kinda like we choose which rune/infusion to keep or change)

I don't consider any balance issue, i'm just giving an idea. Even if You have to wait lev 12 to create powerful items i don't think is bad, doing the first 2-3 dungeons bring you to that level, but the price of crafting is having a less strong skills.

Alternative version of the crafting would be without a talent tree, just a place where you can work, maybe getting better by practicing.

Hope this could be interesting.
