So after playing a lot on the roguelike setting, I finally gave up and switched to adventure mode. I do like the option of having multiple lives, and used all of them in the process of finally making it to the final fight. The plane that you go to is nice to health up, re-engage your sustains and regain your bearings.
So I headed into the final fight knowing I was on my last life. Is there a way to show how many times you have died in game? I saved my character, went to the website and checked there because I could not find it anywhere in game. If the # of time you've died cannot be found in game, it would be a nice addition.
So I figured I would die in the final fight, and I did rather quickly. When the menu popped up, I saw surprised to see I had the blood of life option. Over the course of the weeks I was playing, I had forgotten about it. So I consumed it, and was pretty much in the same situation. My sustains were gone, and my regen was still on cooldown since I tried desperately to save what I figured was my last life.
I'm not proposing having the BOL send you back to the plane, because I'm not sure it would fit the "flavor" of the the BOL. Instead, I would propose that when you die in a mode that offers multiple lives and have consumed the BOL, you get the choice on death whether to go to the plane or use the BOL. I would rather use the BOL early in the game when I die stupidly and have a chance to recover when I get dumped back into the situation, rather than in the final fight. Needless to say, I died in the final fight about 10 turns later.
