Enhanced community chat

#1 Post by PowerWyrm »

It would be nice to be able to see level increases and death of players connected to the online server.

"Foo has joined the channel.
"Foo has attained level 5.
Foo was eviscerated by a cave bear on level 5 of the Old Forest.
Foo has left the channel."

Perhaps just show achievements, so you'd see every 10 levels and some major game hurdles cleared.

I feel that if one chooses to follow a friends character that would be great. But to receive feedback on an open channel, when perhaps 10+ people are starting characters (ie leveling quickly) it might become too busy.

But to follow a friend... super cool.

Need some basic way to opt out of this, and some way to filter people. I say this because I have some experience in this area, and trust me, one day some jerk will come along and get his/her jollies by trying to piss everyone off. Personally, I love it, though it does need its own window.

Would be nice if you could also "follow" people you chose to, or some other mechanism, as mentioned above.

Noticed that I can no longer connect to my profile from work (behind a firewall) so not sure if the chat stuff is integrated with the profile connection, but might be nice to separate the functionality so that if one is restricted, the other may not be.

Also a way to deactivate the chat being still online with the profile would be useful.
