Cooldown for items

I have several items in my quick keys for ease of use. One I use a lot of a mapping skill on my lite. Would be it possible to show how much longer it needs to charge before I can use it again? If that's not possible, can the text at least turn red to indicate you can't currently use it? Nothing more frustrating than having to go into inventory and check the power level of the item.
