[1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
1. Ogres's Writ Large lets them get a 6th inscription slot as before, but they have to use a category point to actually unlock it.
2. Nerfed cooldown and healing on Bathe in Light.
3. Staves accuracy bonus is now halved for short staves.
4. Recursing attacks, like Sawrd in Embers of Rage, can be set to deal less procs damage.
5. Lichform grants 100% stun & disease immunity. Lichform now has a new rank 7, which is much more powerful than puny level 6 liches.
One thought here, the request for change is always vocal, those who enjoys the current version might just be silent.
Game does not need to be balanced for every class, every item. Some rare find or combo you work hard on can be overpowered imo. You don't nerf a rare sword like Sawrd 80% of the player didn't even know exists to meet some experienced players' request to balance.

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
1. I think Ogre is still fairly strong even with this nerf. I'm a fairly new player though.
2. I think only the experienced players will really care about Bathe in Light.
3. See above.
4. A rare weapon got nerfed because it was twice as good as other weapons of its nature. Why is this a promlem?
5. Haven't checked out rank 7 Lichform. What was your problem with it?
I don't really see your issue with the nerf to Sawrd. Has it become useless?

I have no problems with any of these.

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
BiL nerf was just numbers on the talent that produced such massive numbers, so who cares.
Ogre and Staff nerfs crippled them for no good reason (like shalore got a tiny nerf in comparison to ogre despite being SO MUCH BETTER)
Staff nerf just ruins demonologist's damage and some adventurers and does like, nothing otherwise. I guess it changes the AB meta from shortstaff to ogre sawrd but that's a good thing.
Speaking of sawrd, the nerf didn't even touch on the part where it hits harder than every other weapon in the game by orders of magnitude without procs anyway.
As for buffs, Rogue is in a good place now, voltteccer is on a crusade against newarcher but i don't think it's that bad. Race and Lichform buffs mean basically nothing they're still awful (though lichform wouldn't be too bad....on any class other than necro)

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
Why do you call 5 a nerf ?
Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
Because now people are wasting a cat point on lichform as well.Mordy wrote:Why do you call 5 a nerf ?

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
But every talent can already be increased by spending a cat point.
Lichform is in no way forcing anyone any more than other talents.
Get some self control people.

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
not a pro. my thoughts are
1. "well, it was the 2H+ that the main reason, extra inscription probably isn't AS important. except inscription for no cat is gone now."
2. If they are worried about high end absurdity i hear about, that's fine if they hit the scaling a little bit. But i hope they didn't hit the low end too hard. it is a useful spell, and THE ONE that you have to heal ally.
And don't forget enemies are healed too!
3. i can see why nerf... but HALF?!
4. i made calculation on that thing once... lets not mention this thing ever again.
5. "
not technically, a nerf through. just an option to put even more into it. besides, what else do you spend those cats on. ice?

You laugh, but this nerf meant my Ogre Bulwark had to choose between Second Wind and Death Dance to still get that sixth inscription. She was not pleased.fateriddle wrote:1. The main point of ogre was to get 2h+offhand (which is only useful on like 5-6 classes tbh) and the extra inscription slot on category-starved classes. Now it only has 2h+offhand and that makes it really bad (I cannot think of a single class that doesn't want 2 category unlocks. Maybe new rogue.)Radon26 wrote:BiL, ogre
BiL is ridiculously overpowered but the nerfs don't actually do anything except kill AB madness (shesh could probably still do it though) so whatever. Healing enemies is entirely irrelevant lol.
Shortstaff nerf was pointless except for reducing build variety.

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
I'm glad that staff acc bonus was nerfed because despite staff combat tree, reavers and ABs trees people should not hit things with a staff it doesn't make any sense and it offends me.
<shesh> cursed is fine
Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
Did you see anyone hit someone with a staff in Lord of the Rings???? We have to be true to the source material dude.Mex wrote:I'm glad that staff acc bonus was nerfed because despite staff combat tree, reavers and ABs trees people should not hit things with a staff it doesn't make any sense and it offends me.

I consider taking at least two of Shades, Light, and Tinkers mandatory on Necromancers.Radon26 wrote:5. "... right... sometimes i forget there are still people who DON'T cheat themselves a hundred cats...ster wrote:Because now people are wasting a cat point on lichform as well.

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
Lich form makes necros worse because it removes infusions and doesn't do anything useful for them (even at level 7).
e: star fury is the only remotely decent part of it, crit immunity and hp boost would be good if necro didn't die to 6 hits anyway. and getting more nukes from star fury doesn't mean that much since necro isn't exactly a high damage class even with them

Re: [1.5] Most striking nerfs, balanced or overdone?
Writ Large nerf is good, Ogre was a straight upgrade from Cornac with the free Inscription.
Bathe in Light: Not a huge fan because classes like Anorithil, Necromancer, and Corruptor are collateral damage here. Still it isn't an overkill nerf so it's okay.
I think shortstaves should just be removed but since that isn't going to happen this is fine.
Sawrd nerf is good, makes vaulting worse which is always a good thing.
Lichform isn't a nerf? It seems good but you need to get Tinkers and maybe also Light to get it to work.
