Skill bar tips/ideas?
This probably belongs in Dumb Questions.
I'd love to get some input regarding skill bar (hot bar) configurations. What have you found to be most useful yet 'out of the way'?
Do you add rows or go with the default and scroll through your skills as 'pages'? Do you use an add on that makes a helpful change? Do you group skills in a way that has proven extra handy?
I am currently running the hot bar horizontally at the bottom and have it set to show 3 rows. This sometimes blocks my visibility and could even get me into trouble unless I temporarily resize the bar.
Cheers!

Because vision is circular but the game window is wider than it is high, it's optimal to place the skill bar as a tall rectangle covering either the left or the right side of the screen, outside of your LoS.seattlesid wrote:This probably belongs in Dumb Questions.

Re: Skill bar tips/ideas?
I also have the skill bar at the bottom of the screen with 3 rows and it hasn't caused me any problems.
I group the most used combat skills on the upper left, (so I just press 1 2 3 for my main attacks ect) the healing and status removal skills on the right, utility/item skills in the middle, and sustains on the bottom left. All neatly grouped together and organized

Re: Skill bar tips/ideas?
This is what I do.
-Two horizontal rows on the bottom.
-A tile size/zoom that makes it so I can still see 10 tiles from my character to the tile just above my hotbar. Only a slight pain when playing a Higher, but can be adjusted in that case.
-Arrange talents, as far as possible like this: First primary attack skills, secondary attack skills, support skills, inscriptions and healing/shielding/debuff-removal talents, and after that I'll put usable items, and items I often switch back and forth between (lamps or Cloak of Deception and another cloak, for instance), as well as talents I rarely ever use. On the bottom row I'll put sustains and talents that are set to auto-activate on the left, while on the right I put the Rod of Recall, Dig, as well as possibly things like Teleport: Angolwen, Timeport: Point Zero, Orb of Many Ways, Spacetime Tuning, etc.
-Since I play with a WASD (and QEZC for diagonals) setup, my talents are grouped in five, before requiring a modifier to use, since I find it super awkward to, for instance, hold Shift+Ctrl while pressing 9, all with my left hand. Having them grouped in fives, with an empty slot between each groups, also helps with making it less cluttered for me, giving me a better overview, and knowing where to look on my hotbar.

Yeah, I also ended up reorganising my HUD, based on some of the discussion here.
Re: Skill bar tips/ideas?
I use two rows spanning the whole bottom of the screen. Sometimes it gets in the way, but having them along the sides looks so very, very wrong.

I agree, until I used it for about an hour. Now I can't go back. I can have bigger tiles/less zoom now, while still being able to see 10 tiles or more in any direction. It's so nice. And, to be honest, I feel like I have a better overview of my talents this way.tabs wrote:I use two rows spanning the whole bottom of the screen. Skafsgaard, is it the set up in the image you included that you are liking?Skafsgaard wrote:I agree, until I used it for about an hour. Now I can't go back.
