I just had a good run with the new doomed, died to the backup guardian in Daikara (full health to zero in one crit! Ouch!) and really enjoyed it. The class feels powerful and I was doing great damage with +70% mind and 220% crit damage.
One thing felt severely off though: I literally never had to pay the slightest attention to hate.
I only took feed lvl 2 and didn't use it for hate regain at all. It feels like Doomed abilities may as well have no cost at all which seems a bit too easy.
I'm playing on normal difficulty, does hate become more of a thing to watch at higher dificulties?

Re: New Doomed and hate.
Are you using Gesture of Pain, Shadows or Hateful Whisper?
It is also possible that some of the damage buffs have reduced the hate cost to kill ratio significantly.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
Re: New Doomed and hate.
I invested heavily into gestures, shadows and darkness but didn't touch hateful whisper.
I did have a lot of luck with some excellent mind damage boosting gear but there are so many +mid damage mindstars that this didn't feel too unusual a run really. I couldn't run out of hate if I tried at any point.

Were you bump attacking much?
Shadows have had their cost reduced, so that would have had some effect.

Not a lot of bumpage!
General tactic was to start with darkness and then bump hit once to trigger gestures, feed to trigger increased damage there, the talent that causes your shadow to leap into them and decrease their damage and then hit them with all my attack abilities.
I was getting crazy damage from all these stacked bonuses (1700 mind damage by the end) and was using a hate based talent every turn without ever running low.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you activate feed you activate feed. Even if you do it "for" damage instead of "for" hate, it still gives you hate back, yes?Dougiegee wrote:General tactic was to start with darkness and then bump hit once to trigger gestures, feed to trigger increased damage there, ...
Re: New Doomed and hate.
Played a doomed winner in adventure/normal. Had to bring feed up to lvl 4 by endgame. I was using a lot of abilities and also fears and popping shadows. I found that coming from very low levels of hate in the beginning of fights, if I didn't lvl up feed I would always be catching up, the ability I wanted to use not quite affordable yet in the turn I wanted to use it on. So it seems decently balanced to me, as it worked well with 4 points. Also eye of the tiger prodigy increases your hate usage rate as you can cast the biggies more often.
Re: New Doomed and hate.
@dukereg: I was of course gaining hate from feed but I never leveled it above 1 so zero investment and it barely gave me any hate.
