Time Shield vs Barrier

I am trying to conserve my point spending. But of course I NEED shielding. Am I wrong to assume that Time Shield has the bigger upside vs Barrier?

Time Shield is instant cast, shields for more, heals you for half the damage absorbed when it's done, and reduces the duration of incoming debuffs. It's not even a contest.

Also, unless you're making an adventurer, you can't get both unless you got the Light category from an escort, in which case Barrier will be even worse and cost you a category point.

Barrier can crit and won't get shut down by Mana Clash.

Barrier is better for endgame with stacked crit. Time Shield is better for everything else. You may want to put points in TS during the first half of the game and them respec most of them for late game.
