Intentional AI behavior?
It appears for some abilities (Vimsense, presumably telepathy) the enemy gains sight to you as well. In some areas with monsters with AoE abilities, this can result in the monsters killing each other dramatically before you ever come into normal sight of them.

"Feel the very existence of creatures around you for 4–8cTS turns, in a radius of 10.
The evil touch will reduce their blight resistance by [10]45%cTSpD, but also make them aware of you.
The resistance reduction will improve with your Spellpower. "
yes, it is intentional for vimsense.
telepathy doesn't do that, and neither does track or earth's eye with meditation on.

I think he's talking more about the enemies killing each other, not how vimsense works.
A little bit of a starters guide written by yours truly here.

I've noticed the same thing. It seems like sometimes mobs will become active out of line of sight and start using abilities even when they can't see you. I've had vaults clear themselves this way. Probably the funniest/weirdest offshoot of this is when multihued wyrms start attacking their flocks. Since their kids aren't immune to every element, they aggro.
