Is this mem use normal?

cause my computer can barely play this and it ends up not responding a lot because the game is too much to handle on an i5 with 4GB ram.

it will unclog if you turn it off and on again. but give it a minute.

They are working on the memory leaks.
Exiting back to main menu and reloading your save clears the memory.

Well, i did this last night so may as well post it since it can happen like 20 seconds into play, wow, like its getting worse the farther into the game I get. Turning off or exiting isnt even an option, it just crashes.

Have you considered posting the log file for the 20 seconds that is causing so many memory leaks?
That would be more useful than screenshots of the memory usage.

Mostly off topic wrt memory leaks, but it might help you play the game. Memory management in Windows is absolutely awful (I say that as a former Windows application programmer). I have regularly played this game under Linux with an Atom powered netbook with 2 gigs of ram without much problem (water effects slow down my machine, but that's lack of CPU, not memory). A core i3 with 4 gigs should be plenty to play the basic game under Linux. I also noticed that you have Toshiba computer (I'm guessing a laptop). Practically *all* of the Toshiba laptop line supports Linux flawlessly. I admit that it might be a bit of a pain to install, but you should have no problems once you've done so.

Also, with that kind of lower powered equipment, Linux is a *lot* more responsive than Windows for every day tasks (browsing the web, etc). Up until about 2 months ago I even used my netbook for my job (currently web development) when I was on the road (tiny thing that fits in my "man purse" and has 6 hours of battery life). I finally upgraded to a new laptop after something like 5 years. I remember when I bought the netbook it had WIndows 7 on it and it was completely unusable as it ran out of memory and started swapping even when I had *nothing* running. Under Linux, I think that I don't even have swap turned on for my netbook and I don't think I've ever run out of memory -- and that's with 2 gigs. 4 gigs is practically infinite.

It might not be for you, but I just thought I would suggest the option.

by the time it screws up I cant even take the log file. If I try to open it, it wont handle the attempt, as Ive been trying to.


linux, I had looked into it some years ago but there are many different ones, and having to learn whole new stuff and everything that goes with it for the computer, I just got rid of the idea after looking into it some.

It shouldn't be deleting the log file, so you can just grab it afterwards.

which log file is it exactly? i meant wherein the game you click and it shows a log of damage done, that stuff, but what file should I be looking for?

te4_log.txt, in the base game folder. It clears out whenever you start the game back up, so if you crash or have issues make sure to get whatever information you need out of it before restarting the game.

It seems to cut off recording in that file just prior to the total clog.

But I do see tons of:

And I am not online (no internet available during this play) and never connect to an online account from the game, so I think it should not be doing this activity! What is it trying to do?

I just had this crash [and was able to reproduce it] by doing nothing more than going into talents to restart some sustains. I got one done fine, but the system was clogging on scrolling down to it, and then I went in a second time and it flashed white a brief second and I was able to esc out of that screen but as I tried to move the character, I think it moved one step and then simply not responding, game screen got a permanent white cast on it.

CRASH 1:

So here I simply was pressing Z to up energy bars that had fallen, and then went to start some sustains:

I have also noticed that buying a new talent, it will pause for a couple seconds just to buy it, like I click, it pauses, and then it ups the talent one, then I click, pause, ups again, like it can’t even manage that much without a struggle.

putting the differerent kinds of talents in different menu tabs (activatable, sustain, passive, custom) would cut down on this issue I think, along with stopping the phone-home.

Hmmm. Looks like it might be the log file itself is eating all the ram. But that doesn't really make sense.
Try the flush log option. That stops it cutting off until it has crashed.

everytime i open talents it connects to online server. why? I'd like a addon that rips this out and stops it!

now I am online and so the game is connecting and it took longer to get the error but I got it with that flush enabled so.

Notice where it says connection disrupted? That might have been the split second white screen flash and server latency 24000.

doesnt seem to record my last attempt to open talents. I did get to open it like 3 or 4 times and scroll a bit up and down, before this finally happened, but as I said I was connected to internet so it was not continually attempting that phone home crap that needs to stop. but at the end it loses connection and boom, crash is there also, so either crash caused the lose connection or other way around?

I see no reason at all for it to be connecting to a server like this. What is it transmitting?
