Issue with item vault / steam

#1 Post by Sador »

The game seems to be having some issues for me with the donators item vault. I've bought both the game and the DLC on steam, and have it active on the website. The donator vault always worked fine for me, but recently when I try to put something in the vault, it refuses with the following error:

Error while transfering [item] to the online item vault, please try again later. I figured the vault might be full, but when I retrieve an item from the vault and then try to place it back again, it gives the same error. Seeing as I can still retrieve items, it must mean there is still a connection going on between my profile and the server, but something is definitely going wrong. I've tried it multiple times on multiple days, but it always has the same issue, so it doesn't seem to be a server issue either.

Now, when I checked my profile I found something interesting that might be related, the website doesn't think I have the game on steam:

Even though it recognizes my purchase:

And sees I have items in the vault:

It's not a huge issue, but since the vault is a rather useful feature, I would like it to work. Any idea what might be causing this issue, or how I could resolve it?

Thanks!

If you've bought the Steam version and Ashes, but not otherwise donated, you only have I think 5(?) slots in the item vault. (1 per 2 Euros spent/donated) There was a bug fixed recently that was giving people (a lot of) extra slots. When you retrieve an item, there should be a note at the top about x/x slots filled.

It used to be that you get 6 slots from buying the game on Steam. I don't know if it was just a bug or if it was changed intentionally, but now you get 3 slots for buying the base game and +2 for buying Ashes DLC. If you already have items in the vault, you need to remove them before you can put new items in. Unfortunately the error message is not very helpful.

I bought the game on Steam, as well as the expansion. I've only been playing for the last two weeks or so, but in that time I never had the item vault work for me. It always gave me the "Error while transfering [item] to the online item vault, please try again later" error.

After seeing this thread, I just checked my profile on the website and it also tells me that I don't own the game on Steam. This is even right after I clicked the log in via Steam button.

Is this a case of my ToME website account somehow being out of sync with my ToME account? The Ashes of Urh'rok DLC is definitely working in-game for me, but it doesn't seem to be listed in my profile on the ToME website. Unlike Sador, my "Balance" tab on the website doesn't show any purchases (maybe because I bought directly from Steam?)

Possibly related, I installed the game on another computer and when I click the "Login via Steam" button on the page's main screen it usually rejects my login. I think I got it to work one time out of about ten attempts. The next time I loaded it up I was logged back out and couldn't get logged in. It looks like other people are having that problem. http://steamcommunity.com/app/259680/di ... 849950774/

Maybe this is all just user error. Maybe I somehow created a ToME account that wasn't linked to the Steam account I bought it on. I don't know. Is there somewhere that describes the process needed to make sure the game treats my Steam purchase as a donor?

Just wanted to update... I sent an email to DarkGod about my details asking how to resolve this and figured he'd fixed it when later in the day I saw that my profile was linked to Steam!

However, I just looked again and it once again thinks I don't own it on Steam. Not sure how the backend works and if it checks every single time I look at that tab if Steam thinks I own the game, but it sounds like about 90% of the time, that check is failing.

Unrelated, I also donated $10 today because the game is awesome and I wanted to throw DarkGod a little extra money, so while it's probably a non-issue for me now as a result of that (I'm at work, so can't check in-game yet), this is a bug that's probably affecting other Steam users and should be investigated.
