Did the sandworm lair change?

I am seeing giant sandworm friends (2x2 icons) and the first level is long and I am not finding stairs. I am following a sandworm "east" for screen after screen. Bug, or "working as intended"?

Working as intended. Tier 1 and Tier 2 Dungeons got alternate makeovers which by chance you may get instead of the original layouts.

For the Alternate Sandworm Tunnel layout, you get a Huge Sandworm Burrower who will lead you over a vast distance with the assortment of rooms with chest, enemies, and loot. Once you travel far enough you get to the end of the instance where this is a stairs, that will lead you to a layout that is exactly like the forth instance from the original Sandworm Tunnel.
