Your most hated enemy ?
I'm curious, what are the enemies you hate the most in ToME4 with your various characters combinations ?
For me it's the "turn all off" guys , those monsters that have an ability to turn off all your sustains into minimum 10 turns cooldown, i never notice my sustains having been turned off by them until i start to take insane damage, lose all my skeletons, deal only weak strikes etc... depending on which character class/race combo i'm playing and then what sustain he was using.
Every time i start to notice my sustains have all gone off it's always leading to a near YASD if my teleport/movement is not ready (as they seem to all be blocked by another conveniently used monster ability).

EZ win = damn necromancer which appears from the sphere before entrance to the High Peak!!! My oozemancer is stuck at him (died twice already)! To mention, some my chars killed him without any problems, overall it's the most hated antagonist of mine!
Topics of my winners:

luminous horrors and / or worms that walk.
They're really good "Gut Check" enemies, if you can handle them you have a really good char going, but if you cant chances are you will die.
Its a good way to gauge your strength, but damnit they are annoying as hell.

For me it is hands down Worms that Walk. Playing a corruptor on Nightmare difficulty right now and these are the only thing that make him turn tail and run immediately.

Re: Your most hated enemy ?
random unique dreamscape/solipsist enemys directly followed by fearscape, like the crusher in highpeak. the necro in high peak never was a big problem for me but the crusher was.
oozemancer uniques are annoying too and archmage hybrid very dangerous in parts but all can be handled. the dreamscape/fearscape uniqs can be 100% deadly for the unprepared character, and i think the crusher would need a little nerf on normal at least. if u dont have gloves of dispersion ready/by class and are a close range class he is basically unkillable for some char combos imo. i also think the fire damage from fearscape ignores resistances ? not sure if thats intended

Re: Your most hated enemy ?
Worm that Walks is hard enough on most characters with their Worm Rot and they often kill any Corruptor or Reaver I make that is unfortunate enough to encounter one.
Oozing Horror because it does some weird double grapple thing from long range, pinning and silencing me while draining all my mana/vim in a single turn. To make things worse, a single physical Wild Infusion isn't enough to break the grapple since it applies two effects at the same time. Fortunately non-magic characters don't have as hard of a time but it's a nightmare for any most mages that encounter one.
Umbral Horror spawns shadows and messes with my vision while hiding out of sight. They're way too tanky to dispatch as quickly as other enemies with shadows making the fights annoyingly long.
Dream Horror's can be hard countered with Eye of the Dreaming One. If you don't have it, good luck surviving its Dreamscape/Maelstrom combo.
If we're including rares, Oozemancer rares seriously need a nerf. I can't survive a single poisoning from them early game without using some sort of healing or damage prevention and later they just one-shot my characters out of light range. I recently lost a Corruptor to a Slime Spit and Acid Beam hitting me on the same turn, which shouldn't happen on normal mode. Other than that Doomed rares are annoying for the same reason that Umbral Horrors are and Archer rares do silly amounts of damage.

Elemental Fury ring works great against Worm.
Oozing Horror and anti-mages (such as Gorbat), on the other hand...

Talking about Gorbat... man, that guy. Also wretchlings, because they are annoying.
I used to have a hard time with luminous horrors, but these days that just makes it extremely satisfying to slaughter them mercilessly.

Ghoul never existed, this never happened!

Re: Your most hated enemy ?
Of the enemies not listed, I'd probably say Naga Tidecallers, or whatever the mind-power ones are called.
If I'm ready for them, they're just tedious to kill, and often have friends, addig to the tedium.
If I'm not... I usually die from excessive mind damage spam. Which is less fun.
I'm a bit of a love/hater for Oozing horrors. I cannot, for the life of my characters, kill one, but running is much more interesting when you don't have an option to fight, and a wrong move gets you back to square one.

According to escorts, Poison Ivy is infinitely more dangerous than anything. Even Dragons. That summon Drakes and send you to the Fearscape.
Re: Your most hated enemy ?
Quick tip on oozing horrors - wild infusions won't get you out of the doublegrab, but teleports (any distance) and knockbacks both will - and if you can't field a teleport it's because you're antimagic, in which case they should be much less of an issue.

I used to be thick headed enough to actually have zero escape options. No teleports. No movement boosts. None of those things that everyone eventually realizes are irreplaceable. Not much of a surprise then, that I often died frequently.

Quite a few teleports are blocked by Silence, though.Sirrocco wrote:Quick tip on oozing horrors - wild infusions won't get you out of the doublegrab, but teleports (any distance) and knockbacks both will - and if you can't field a teleport it's because you're antimagic, in which case they should be much less of an issue.

Silence can be easily cured too.
