What causes spell failure?

#1 Post by Emetivore »

I'm playing a Reaver and I noticed that my abilities would fail quite frequently, causing me to do nothing for a turn. "Failed to cast Virulent Disease" or "Failed to cast Rend", for example.

I'm wondering what causes spell failure and how to view my failure chance. Is it even Spell Failure that I'm worried about? I guess I don't understand what is causing this. Are there unspoken armor restrictions for Reavers? Help!

That's odd. By chance, are you wearing a piece of Antimagic equipment? I can't remember if that made it in into the new version nor am I sure how it's displayed.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

Most likely anti-magic equipment (arcane-disrupting forces). Next release the failure message will be clearer.

Interesting. That may well have been the problem. Such a piece of equipment would say "powered by arcane disruptive forces" I presume?
