We've all had escorts be suicidal; they are coded to help attack then keep moving, even when staying back would be better and by 'better' I mean 'the only way to not die'. That is just the way they work. This, however, defies all reason. I was fighting something, but he didn't care and kept going. Then he stepped on a powerful trap, which I'm beginning to think he detected before hand, and then well, this:

Ha ha! Nice! It seems like no matter how careful I am I can only ever get about half to their destinations. The most annoying thing is that they seem to already know where they're going, and I have to guess the most careful route possible so that I can catch up with them quickly when they go the other way. Seriously, can't they have pointers over their heads, like they're telling us where to go, rather than charging ahead without us, after asking for our help because they know without it they're going to die? and , with a pointer, then STAY BEHIND US!!! Feel free to attack/activate runes/infusions/cast spells/etc if somebody moves up alongside you, but don't go looking for trouble!

Finishing the level, I'm now quite sure he saw the trap and was trying to save me from it. The trap was significantly west and slightly north in the room we started in, the portal, I later found was out the SOUTH EAST EXIT. He ran AWAY from his destination TO a deadly trap, FOUR TIMES.
