Using the Rod if Recall

#1 Post by Bladyn »

OK... I just want to be sure I am not being a complete idiot. In most other games I have played with a "Recall" type device you use it in a Dungeon to get out and can then renter the portal to go back to where you were. It looks like the RoR in ToME gets you back to the World Map only and does not allow you quickly return back to where you were in the Dungeon.

I tried right-clicking on the Dungeon entrance think there might be an option there, but it was just "Change Level".

Just being able to get out is blissful in and of itself, but being able to return would push the Bliss over into Ecstasy.

Cheers...

The dungeons in TOME 4 tend to be fairly shallow, consumables aren't nearly as critical as in most roguelikes, and full ID shows up pretty early in the game. Frequently, you can actually get to the end of a dungeon in a single run without doing anything too unreasonable, and there's no reason to return. For those dungeons that you don't want to treat that way, the persistence of levels means that you can get through most levels that you've already mapped pretty quickly and on to the new stuff. Admittedly, it doesn't lend itself so much to "grind for levels/loot on the lowest level of dungeon X" as some might like, but that doesn't work but so well in TOME 4 anyway - as so much of the good loot and exp comes off of uniques.
