Question about experience

#1 Post by Omega Blue »

So it turned out that my lowly level 13 dwarven fighter managed to kill a mightly level 25 ice wyrm, and got like two or three hundred experience points (jumped to 20% from 14%) in return.

That doesn't seem right, does it? Considering the wyrm didn't even drop any treasure of significance.

Thats just how it is at the moment. Experience will probably be rebalanced based on monster difficulty eventually.

I killed a horde of level 46 orcs, including a boss, with a level 25 Archmage and gained less than 1 level :( There weren't even any nice drops. Would be nice if the xp system were more rewarding to those out of their depth, especially considering it gives nothing to those fighting lesser monsters.

If it isn't already (am dumb when it comes to the mechanics) maybe adjust the experience value of things based on their status - such that a Level N critter has effect as if Level N-2, through to a level N elite being treated as Level N+2 (or whatever). The overall scheme seems really good, no flavour of "kill Crebain, kill Hydras, kill Dragons, go to foot of PoD with stack of Never-Moving Pet scrolls" which is hard to put aside once you've got the hang of it.

That's the way it should be.
