Tools...like a pickaxe

#1 Post by Hawk »

Do I need to learn something to use a pickaxe? Also, I finally got a character to level 4.

Nope.

"w"ield the pick axe first. Then you can use it by clicking on it and selecting "use".

Or, even better: assign a hotkey to the pick axe. e.g. if you highlight it and then press 8, then you can just hit 8 during normal gameplay to dig.

Has anyone ever managed to tunne through any wall with those? I tried a few times without success - and not just in vaults :)

I am pretty sure there was a wall involved (that was not sand)

I've successfully tunneled sand and rock walls, though not the reddish-brown walls of carn dum, nor trees with the most basic iron pick axe.

How long does it take to tunnel through a section of wall at the Maze with a normal iron pickaxe?

Infinity, I think. (Haven't actually tried in beta 13, but I believe the Maze is un-diggable based on previous experiences).

Thanks! That's dreadful. I was trying to avoid the traps by digging through the walls.

Could I dig holes in sand? Like in the SWL?

Yes, but it's not necessarily a healthy pastime....

A skeleton could get away with it.... though, they aren't exactly healthy are they?

That's just a wee bit too cryptic for me
