What should I do now?

#1 Post by Narsil »

Primo: sorry for my English, but it's not my native language (however, my native language is even harder :P )

Ad rem: where should I go now? (or where I shouldn't go - except Carn D?m and Tol Falas - if I want to keep her alive?)

So I would suggest Carn Dum, go vanquish that...

I would also suggest that the next time you go up a level place a point into Heavy Armour. This would allow you to wear the good stuff (the Helm of Hammerhand, Frost Treads and other such nice things) which will up your constitution and therefore the number of hit points you have.

Also go find the Elven ruins and do them. Once you have done both of those, go do Tol Falas.

Well done, by the way! Its a good start!
Regards

Jon.

Yeah, I would definitely get at least 1 point in heavy armor training. I've seen a MAGE build posted on here that used it, and since you already have the str requirement, I would definitely get it.

I'd avoid the Elven Ruins with an Archer. The reward isn't something you're going to use (it's a sword), and the boss is quite nasty. Or at least, it was last time I went there, which was a few betas ago.

You know, this indirectly raises a good point. Is it just me having tunnel vision on which classes I've been playing, or are there surprisingly few classes that primarily use 1h weapons?

Good point, I was just thinking there are few classes that primarily use bows :P

Well, I play mostly Fighters, Sun Paladins, Archers, Slingers, and Archmages. Fighters and Sun Paladins use a 1-h weapon plus a shield. Archers use a 2-h bow. Slingers use a 1-h sling and a shield. Archmages use a 2-h staff.

Rogues and Shadowblades use a pair of 1-h daggers. Summoners probably use a 1-h weapon plus a shield. Alchemists use a 2-h staff. Berserkers use a 2-h weapon.

Obviously the answer depends a great deal on which classes you play.

a little more flexibility in build types might not hurt. there are some classes, ie wyrmics, summoners, sun paladins, that could be interesting with initial combat builds that aren't the preordained ones. if, for instance, wyrmics stated out with one category point to assign to either two-handed or sword and shield combat, it could make for a more interesting class...

At level 10 Wyrmics can pick up the Sword and Shield school and swap over to the sword and board style from 2h. They have enough other talents to invest in that its certainly viable. Never played a summoner, so I couldn't really say.

Slingers can use shields? Huh, never realized that. Had a slinger recently sell the Dragon Shield of Smaug. Doh!
