I feel extremely uncomfortable playing ToME with anybody else in the room. I think it makes the game look so much worse. I am not trying to argue that it is unequivocally awful and should be burned; just, I don't like it and I don't want to have to look at it.

I have gotten a great deal of enjoyment and entertainment out of this game since I first picked it up around v0.40 but honestly the loading screens made me stop loading it up. Now I see a new and more awkward tits on another image. I will seriously drop a $20 donation if someone can tell me how to/devise a method to replace those loading images with something like a black screen. Or if the main build gets some kind of 'disable loading screen art' option. It is like a pinch of sea salt in an otherwise cool and refreshing beverage.
Go into game/engines on your tome directory. You should see a cores folder and a te4-0.9.44.teae file. open the .teae with winzip or a similar program. In the file archive go to data/gfx/background. You should see tome.png, tome2.png, tome3.png, which are the three loading screens. With winzip I think you can open them and save them inside the archive (winzip will ask you if you want to recompress it, so say yes) if that doesn't work just extract everything, modify the files (but keep them the same size and filetype), recompress and enjoy. I tried this, and tome will still think this version is valid, so you can still do item sharing and have your characters stored.

If there is a way to make a mod that does this automatically that would be great.

You get a new class, item vault, and custom character tiles for donating, so have fun. ;)

For what it's worth I stopped playing at work and at home because of the splash screens, it made me uncomfortable when my wife, kids or co-workers would walk in when I was loading the game.

Or at least have that as the default mode, with a toggle for the racier stuff?

Maybe even bring back the old forest path thing from way back when...

NOOO!!! How can we lose the image of your beloved Linannil? (At least I've heard folks say that's who the redhead on the objectionable splash screen is.) Just make it an option or something.

The redheaded mage and the armored warrior are Linaniil and Toknor, respectively (see the lore in Last Hope).

I believe the other woman, in the picture with the tentacles and the robed figures, is intended to be Melinda transformed into Kryl-Feijan when you fail the Dark Crypt challenge. But I could be wrong on that one.

Kryl-Feijan tears its way our from inside Melinda. I doubt that's what the end result looks like, and frankly the thought of "Kryl-Feijan killing Melinda" fanservice is downright horrifying.

I'm pretty sure the demon lady is Shasshhiy'Kaish (whom the elven cultists sacrifice themselves to summon).

Seconded for Shasshy. (I refuse to try and memorize how to spell that... I'll assume you're right. :)) Ingame description says that she had 3 tail like appendages. There are (count the tips) precisely 3 tentacles coming out of her, although they are of wildly varying length. Additionally, she has that hovering crown of flames, which we see as the circle of glowing fire over her head on the splash screen. Furthermore, the 'impaled guy', could easily be a cultist sacrificed to her. Seems to fit FAR more for Shasshy then Melinda.

Of course the best solution is more splash art. I'd love to see Linaniil leaving flowers or something at a memorial for her dead sister (lore from the description on one of the artifacts in the game, IIRC), or some other moments. Perhaps Linaniil teaching young apprentice mages? While we're at it, how about some halfling lore? Perhaps the wedding with the previous rulers of the halfling and human reams? Them holding there little halfman (Hufling? Proper word to describe that race? Anyone) baby? Don't forget that Maj'eyal isn't all epic battles and danger, it has it's more touching moments as well.

Let's see, a half-human, half-halfing baby would be a... three-eighthling?
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

She shows up pretty randomly, actually. S'part of one of those tiny events, th'particular one involving the murder of non-hostiles. Just watch out for falling rocks.
