Late game dreariness

A problem I have with the ending is these sorcerers appeared from nowhere. The lore revealed that they are humans and that's it. Now, given that these baddies are powerful, the archmages in Anglowen should have noticed them long ago, and started tracking and investigating them. How they raised to power before that, and why would they want to destroy the world, and all those nagging questions remained to be answered.

They were angolwen apprentices actually, if you read the lore.

Background is still lacking.

I'm wondering if we find out more about them in a different campaign?
