well seems that everything works for now, so if you want some features (like updating addons, patchnotes) you have to bug DG for them cause i dont have access to server code : P

Check for updating addon's? GOD YES. Maybe we can even start this along the way to a built in interface for browsing and downloading new addon's we don't have yet, but one step at a time. Update existing addon's first.

Secondly, if this is going to become a standard use thing to update tome, can we have some sort of option/flag to KEEP from updating past the most recent 'stable' version? That way, those who don't want to update to the SVN versions which would not function with addon's would be able to maintain there existing version without denying a patch option every time. (Or accidentally patching.) Or perhaps a tie-in allowing us to 'launch stable' and 'launch SVN' letting it tie itself into 2 separate folders.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go sharpen a stick to poke DG with until we get the update addon's function.

Addons updating/downloading perhaps yeah

As for preventing svn updates, only stable releases will ever appear on the launcher so no worries; the "test 1.0.1" is just that, a test to make you able to try the launcher before we release it officialy

I ran the launcher from a folder containing an existing install. It detected a patch and started to do its thing, but then gave me an error saying "game/modules/tome-1.0.0.team not found!" Of course it wasn't...I have tome-1.0.0-nomusic.team there. I copied the file it wanted in from a .zip I had of the musical version and tried it again. I received a similar error when the patcher got to the game/modules/boot-te4.1.0.0.team file. Copied that file over and ran it again - success!

So, for now the launcher doesn't work for the no-music version?

*Update*
So, the game ran OK after doing that, except I kept getting all kinds of crazy errors regarding in game chat. Used the launcher on a fresh install of the game with sound. Everything works fine so far.

Yeah it wont work on the nomusic version; which is not very important since the whole point of the patcher is to never have to redownload again :)

well. Its working so far. I downloaded v1 of the launcher and it promptly and quickly updated itself to v6, no issues.

tome 1.0.0 is downloading now but...its EXTREMELY slow. Its going at 4.00 kb/s. Yes, 4 kilobytes per second. Everything else I do (including just downloading tome from te4.org) is closer to 900.00 kb/s.

So,

The launcher installed the patch on my old 1.0.0 install, and installed the 1.0.0 version from scratch on another directory. It patched to 1.0.1 when I re-used the launcher.

One thing of note is that I had to close, then launch the launcher again for it to patch the 1.0.0 version.

My windows is (legit) windows 7.

Updated to v7 without a hitch :)

EDIT: I made a new, empty folder so the launcher can download 1.0.1. I left the room for a few minutes and when I came back, it had an error.

Code: Select all

[BSPatch] PHYSFS_open(/t-engine-launcher.exe): The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
[BSPatch] Patching error: 2
Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.[BSPatch] Deleting request: downloaded/t-engine4-windows-1.0.1/t-engine-launcher.exe now 2

stack traceback:
	/main.lua:902: in function 'setError'
	/main.lua:1264: in function 'onUpdate'
	/main.lua:923: in function </main.lua:922>
Also, here's my full log: http://pastebin.com/duy4ezLc

EDIT2: Tried downloading again into another empty folder, and I kept getting the same error. So I found my old 1.0.0 download and launched it from there. It patched and downloaded successfully.

For some strange reason, whenever I run v8 from an empty folder, it downloads then my PC blue screens and dies. :(

I'll try to see if its my PC's problem first tho /runsdiagnostics

At the downloading stage, right around 30% I would try again now, but I already crashed twice and I'm just now running some checks to see if anything was damaged/if its my PC just acting up
