You want the No Reloading addon. All my archers swear by it. (It's only been released for v1.0.0, so you may need to manually enable it in the Addons section, but I can confirm that it still works with v1.0.4.)anuset wrote:6. I haven't played archers at all. I started one, realized I had to reload every 8 shots, and promptly said, "- this."

Re: Newbie First Impressions
being hella late here but i can't believe none of you guys have mentioned right clicking the reload skill and setting it to 'use when no enemies are visible'
Re: Newbie First Impressions
Well, it starts loading whenever you rest, which is usually the first thing I do when there are no enemies in sight, so...
Re: Newbie First Impressions
And it can also be configured to auto-reload when you hit autoexplore, which is something I pretty much always do between fights.

I'd just like to say that, as someone who has a game clear, I find Alchemist very unfriendly to use. For me, this is almost entirely due to how abysmal the UI for interacting with your golem is. Simply outfitting your golem is a nightmare.
Basically, the game gives you a few different ways to achieve a fraction of what you want to do, and you have to find the correct order to achieve the desired result. And this could all be made much simpler by having a dual-inventory screen, where you can see both you and your golem's inventories at the same time, and you can intuitively click and drag anything between them.
Of course I have no idea if this has anything to do with why anuset found them beginner unfriendly.
anuset, regarding enemy mages and being one-shot, etc etc, if you've played a good number of RPGs throughout your life, you may be used to "Magic Damage" being mitigated by "Magic Defense", or something similar. Tome does not follow this paradigm. There are precious few ways to mitigate magic damage directly, though there is a plethora of element resistance. But considering how micromanagey that can get, you may opt to ignore it more-or-less and just go with "stack HP, survive burst". It really turns the game into "fight the trash physical damage dealers, OHSHITIT'SAMAGE, trash trash trash, OHLORDANOTHERONE, etc," at least from my experience. Your mileage may vary.

Having tabs on your Inventory screen to switch between party members, and allowing me to drag & drop between different inventories AND between my inventory & any party member's slots, would go a LONG way to making me want to play an Alchemist again.

This. A thousand times this!Having tabs on your Inventory screen to switch between party members, and allowing me to drag & drop between different inventories AND between my inventory & any party member's slots
It would help far more than just the alchemist, and if added to the engine, proper, would expand the ability of T-Engine games to have a party-based system in the games. While ToME isn't really geared as party-combat based game, it doesn't mean that other games on the T-Engine couldn't be.
