I can do something after ARRP but I'm far too busy before then.

I'm working on it (after a bit of a break...) One of the problems that I ran into is that my computer can't handle recording video at a good framerate while there are heavy particle effects on screen, so I have to rework my approach a bit from superflashy quick action. I got stuck doing other stuff during the weekend, but I'll have time during this week to do it for sure.

Well, I'm an almost graduated film student, so I could help with a video. Although I haven't captured gameplay to edit it, but I can animate titles, edit, and so on.
Maybe we can work something together Grey.

Edit: Oh, didn't read your post lukep. If you want I can give you a hand or help in any way you think possible.

Steam has greenlighted some games:
http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/?c ... ending&p=1

All seems to be real-time games. In the forum it has been suggested that the greenlighted games received at least 14000 votes.

lukep: Here's a voiceover you can use (as approved by DarkGod):
https://sites.google.com/site/darrenjoh ... -intro.mp3

And a variant of it: https://sites.google.com/site/darrenjoh ... tro-v2.mp3 (though both DarkGod and I prefer the first)

For those interested you can see how ToME4 is doing in the Greenlight standings here:

http://www.shrewdlogarithm.com/greenlight.htm#[[[4,1]],{}] (copy full link)

It's down in joint 103rd with 240 other games :(

We've also just recorded an episode of Roguelike Radio about Greenlight with DarkGod on - should be published tomorrow.

Excellent. I'll add in gameplay footage to (roughly, sort of) match the voiceover.

I'm actually nervous. Games get approved by greenlight by only one factor - how many users vote for it. I can imagine that most casual users don't actually care that much for the average casual game they vote for as we care for tome. But no matter how much love I put into "vote yes" button I click, it's still only one vote =(

So far this tends to be true. But I have some faith in the guys that run Steam.

They may look at how many votes a title gets and based on its genre decide if that's enough votes. For instance, Dungeons of Dreadmor sold fairly well on Steam and that's a niche title. It didn't sell as well as a big title would have but maybe Steam wants more roguelikes so they can get into that market and have a share of it.

In other words, even though right now they're simply looking at number of votes as time goes on I'm sure they'll consider other factors as well.

ToME isn't even in the top 100 games right now. It's nowhere near Steam's radar. It needs at least 5 times the votes its had so far.

You guys should email Rock Paper Shotgun and suggest they do an article on roguelikes on Greenlight. There's a dude there (Adam Smith I think) who's written several articles on the genre before.

RPS gets a ton of exposure.

BTW Grey I really like your show ;).

Hmm, it seems the word p0rn is blocked on the forums...

Anyway, Steam are well-known with being open about giving devs as many keys to their game as they'd like. It gets more people locked in to their service. For instance FTL is best purchased on GOG right now cause you'll get a Steam key anyway.

Video should showcase 1) the many, varied classes, 2) the huge amount of skills and showing some of the more impressive ones being used, 3) the huge amount of different monsters and bosses, 4) the huge amount of artifacts and items, 5) different game modes.

In the case of games and gameplay, more is better, and few games can rival roguelikes in terms of the amount of content.

[ideas/suggestions]Speaking of which, we should get a lot more classes and monster types up in here. I'm thinking of the older roguelikes and how they had some funky flavor classes like tourist, archeologist, which are overall weak but may have a unique useful skill, and that except the names could be more in-line with the tome world. Also some unlockable overpowered uber races like balrog, dimensional being would provide more incentive for current players to keep playing.[/]
