Shadowblades and a few general things

Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
Anacondas definitely have a stun attack. One of my... multitude of chars learned that one.

I died a stupid death to the Anaconda too- it was before I realized that I could use the mousepad to move diagonally on my laptop. He got a hit on me when I was running away from him around a corner.
Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
Something like this seems to make the most sense. Another idea is to give elites stun and crit resist based on their Con score. Something along the lines of every 20 Con reduces stun duration by one turn and crit damage by 20% would help to take the randomness out of the equation (as opposed to a flat chance to avoid stuns or crits which would still lead to unlucky player deaths.)darkgod wrote: * I could give all elite rank or better (which the player is) a reduced critial damage modifier (I like that but that might not be enough)
Ideas?
On that same note, a Skeleton Warrior just took my 400 hit point level 7 fighter out in single round of stuns, granted I wasn't at full health but 375ish damage over the course of the stun would have been enough to put me dangerously close to death either way. Also I had a previous character killed off by an Anaconda stun sequence so they definitely stun.

dont worry, I have been talking with db about the anaconda: reducing the stun and putting something more evil in its place

Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
As long as the change doesn't fall into the category of "if you don't resist this you instantly die" scheme of things, it'll be a very very welcome change, at least by me.

Just so long as it isn't poison. Anacondas are constrictors, heh.
Maybe crushing a limb or three. Might be interesting.

Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
like you said, they are constrictors, I asked him to make it so you cant breathe and lower their stun power

Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
Next beta elites, boss and elite boss will get a duration reduction on stun/blind/confuse/.. effects based on their rank and their physical/mental/spell resistance

Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
Ok, that worked fine - i never expected my stun to work for only half its duration and the mummy lord really took advantage of my surprise
. Before i found this thread i wasn't really sure what had happened either.
A few comments about the shadowblade class, mostly specialized on it, burning a few chars
(max so far lvl 40 and Eruan)
- the name giving shadow part seems a bit useless to me, as the shadow combat damage doesn't seem to scale with stats
- shadow combat (1) is useful in the first levels, though
- shadow cunning, what is it good for? As far as descriptions go, all talents scale with MAGIC not SP (if at all)
- greatest obstacle so far: elemental shields. Everything else could be overcome by adjusting tactics, but fights vs. some stuff just turn into a resource battle (worst opponent so far in this regard: Ant Queen - luckily only met once)
I'm now playing a dwarf (love those suckers, don't ask me why) SB with an emphasis on auxiliary magic. Early levels were tough (no decent drops too) but now he's starting to come around. Maybe one of these days i'll even have generic points left to spend on weapon talents, which will help a bit with those accursed shields.

Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
Yeah, it's kinda confusing but Spellpower is basically +Magic in a lot of ways. Your base spellpower is equal to your magic attribute and most stuff that says it scales off Magic should say 'scales off spellpower'.Fela wrote: - shadow cunning, what is it good for? Re: Shadowblades and a few general things
Hmmm, I agree, it would be nice to see this scale like say Fiery Hands.Fela wrote: - the name giving shadow part seems a bit useless to me, as the shadow combat damage doesn't seem to scale with stats
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended
