Anyone else like to take Chants/Hyms just for swirly motes?

Even though I would probably never crank magic on certain "pure" melee classes, I just love having those little bubbles swirling around me, especially when you get both the pretty yellow and black ones together. Not to say they aren't beneficial, but fun graphics = win.

Chant of Fortitude makes my mages almost impervious to both melee attacks and spells at high level. Useless you say?

Yeah, I think the particle effects are very cool too. On an Archmage you can have about 8 of them going at once...

Yes. Forty-nine in a couple of weeks, and I get a major buzz from those swirly things. I'm hoping Bacteriel the Reaver gets far enough to afford big white orbiting splodges - my task on this planet will then be done
