Mac version?

#1 Post by Repton »

I notice beta 8 has passed without a mac version, and beta 9 does not have one yet. Is there some difficulty in building them? Is there anything mac users can do themselves? I don't want to be pushy, but I am very envious of those now on beta 9, when I can only run beta 7..

I don't have a mac but I guess it shouldn't be a problem to download the beta9 sources and compile the game yourself since MacOS is based on Linux.

DG does not have a mac and relies on someone else to build it for him, that person, has asked which revision to use, so once he gets that info, there should be a mac app out in a couple days.

Mac OS X is based on the BSD kernels, not Linux. But it's pretty close. They're both "unix-like" systems at some level.

If I had Mac OS X, I'd be compiling on it myself, and then I'd be in a position to write up instructions for how to do that. I could tell you how to compile it on Debian, but I don't think it all carries over.

Someone should write up a simple "how to compile ToME 4 on Mac OS X" page on the wiki and then put a sticky post at the top of the forum pointing to it. Or write it on the forum and then point to it from the wiki. Or whatever.
