Just started an Elf Summoner (no, silly, an Elf who summons things, not... never mind). I'm not sure whether the changes I'm seeing are intentional or not.
When I gained level 2, I only had 1 stat point to invest, instead of 3. Maybe this was because my initial stat allocation put me in debt...? If I had -2 stat points to invest after birth, and gained 3 points at level 2, that would account for it.
I have the Rage [s]talent[/s] ability, but it does not show up in my 'G' (Talents Levelup) screen. I believe it's from the augmentation category which is currently unavailable. This leaves me wondering how I managed to get a point in it. It must have occurred at birth. I'm not sure why character birth would have put a point into a skill that's not available. Was it truly desperate? Summoners have a slew of talents and not many skills available. (Until I scrape up 50.00 gold or so.) Maybe char birth couldn't find any available skills to put that last point into, and gave me Rage because it thought breaking open an unavailable category was better than hoarding the point. Or maybe it was a deliberate decision, to boost the class just a bit to make up for the "wasted" skill points and lack of talent points that I'm going to be suffering through during the early game.

Re: Summoners in beta5
For the stats, yes were were in debt from the first level.
For Rage, I did not realize it would cause confusion I must admin ..
What would you suggest to replace it with ?

Re: Summoners in beta5
Summoners start out with 4 Talent categories open, and only 1 Skill category (Survival). One possibility would be to close the Summoning (Utility) category (the one with turtle, spider, spirit, control) and open the Augmentation category (the one I think has rage, which I think might be a skill rather than a talent).
Ah... just hit level 10. It turns out Rage is a talent, not a skill. So opening that category wouldn't give me any other outlet for skill points. Still gotta get some more gold, I guess, then go shopping....

Re: Summoners in beta5
I'm still pretty dubious of the value of the skill/talent distinction in general. The conceptual distinction seems blurred at best, and I don't see it addressing any notable balance issue.
Re: Summoners in beta5
Well the idea is that talents are class specific stuff while skills (can be) are more generic.
The thing is, some classes dont have much relevant skills.
I invite you to start a new thread about which class should have which talents/skills, so we can try to balance them.
If that does not work well we'll go back I suppose
