I am in a certain quest where one must speak with a friendly character in order to, as I understand from other posts, choose who to ally oneself with and complete the quest.
But I can't for the life of me figure out how to speak to this friendly character. I found him, but nothing I do seems to work.
Please forgive my creeping senility and let me know what I'm doing wrong!

just for the record if anyone else has this question:
the answer is...
... you move into them.
if you can talk the dialog will be opened up, if you cant you attack unless they are friendly, then you switch places.

Yes... Archers and Mages (and anyone else with ranged attacks) does not really know this...
