How do updates work for games on Linux?

Hello,

I’m fairly new to Linux gaming and still trying to understand how updates are handled. On Windows, most games update automatically through Steam or the game launcher. But on Linux, do updates work the same way across platforms like Steam, Lutris, or native packages, or is there something different I should know?

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!
