Chronicles of the Spellblade

#1 Post by Xotag »

So, I finally got around to reading the Chronicles of the Spellblaze to get the achievement to unlock the Arcane Amplification Drone.

So far, I have seen better examples of story and writing in the game. Obviously not all the content was done at the same time, so the writing has improved with time.

At this point in the game's maturity, I think it might be better to consider removing or reworking some potions of them. They I was required to read them in order to get an achievement was... I mean in another world I could see how someone else might look at that and find that humorous.

I'm not sure if I got the full jist of your message but I'll note that yes the lore has been made at different points of the games development. My own Lore writing with The Escapades of Fay Willows is likely some of the most recent, while something like the Chronicles of the Spellblade is much older.

I'm not sure I agree with removing works unless there is good reason too - ie, Orc Breeding Pits (removed in version 1.1.5). I'm not sure reworking them is a good idea either since the authors of those pieces may not be around any longer to come back and fix them. if there is a problem with having to read them for an achievement then that could likely be removed - although you don't actually have to read them, you just have to collect them.

I wrote Chronicles and I agree it's not my best work. I'd have no objection to them being removed. "Cut until it bleeds" is a cornerstone of writing.

I didn't know there was an achievement for reading them. Certainly wasn't my idea.

As previously stated, you don't have to read them any more than you have to read one of those end-user license agreement things. I am against removing content unless replaced/upgraded with something more appropriate. The Breeding Pits were kind of a dick move in that regard. Let me guess, a bunch of PC babies started whining so you had to go and remove them to shut them up. Integrity
What is it you find so wrong with the chronicles anyway. Are you expecting Dostoevsky-grade writing from a free indie game inspired by LotR, jeez

Less any issue of political correctness, more an issue of it being disgusting - in the actual sense of the word; also sexual. I believe there were also threats made about reporting the game to Steam administration due to it being rated too low.
