New save fixing hotness!

#1 Post by Stuntofthelitter »

So about 10 months ago I decided to create a help desk to better organize and streamline the process of my save fixing. That little experiment has been hugely successful. Around 280 tickets have been handled and it definitely made things both easier for me and more convenient for those in need of help.

Due to this success I've decided to roll out an even better help desk! From my side of things it makes things easier, but the user side of things is what was important to me. You can now register an account if you wish to and have access to all of your tickets. In fact, any tickets you create prior to registering an account will show up provided they were created with the same email address. This also means that if you have an account you'll be able to track and manage your tickets without first needing to find the ticket in your email.

Most importantly file uploading is now hugely improved. No more hitting "Submit" and waiting forever for your save to upload and be given a confirmation. Is something happening? Did things freeze? Why did nothing happen? Wonder no more. Now when you choose an attachment you can see the upload progress and speed right away. On top of that the process just works better than before.

It's time to update your bookmarks! Or, more likely, make one for the first time. Stunt's Save Fixing Emporium is now open for business (mind the wet paint).

I came back after having a long break, but I forgot to remove the Tirikai's Maul Fix before I started a new game. The last version I played was 1.2.5. Do you know whether it's better to try to remove the fix or to leave it?

Also, I tried to create a new support account at your site, but I did not get the confirmation email.

EDIT: I did get the confirmation email, but only just now. I guess it must be to do with intermittent speed and connection issues with the site.

Better fix it not to leave if the game is still working. But anyway you still have your own choice and it would depend everything on your decision.

This almost belongs in the dumb questions, but what exactly kind of save file fixing are you talking about here? I get the basic "this file gives me an error when I try to load it" but is that the extend of it? I have an ancient file from 1.1(?) that I wanted to load but it says I need a version of ToME below 1.2, and to download it off the website. I go to the website and the lowest version available seems to be 1.4 -- so would I be able to send my file to this service to have it fixed to allow me to load it, or do I need someone to send me 1.1, or am I SOL? Sorry to be a bother here, but the support site doesn't actually say in its FAQs what exactly qualifies as things that are able to be fixed.

Edit: it looks like that isn't something you do for the save file fixing, at least going by what the stickied "emergency help" thread says. I'll leave this here just in case this isn't true and it can be adjusted for the current version, but I'm not holding my breath. :P

This hasn't been active for years now, locking the thread to avoid further confusion.
