So, I was impatient trying to unlock the ice tree (cryomancer) and tried to edit the .teaw file where it I read online achievements were located.

It didn't open in notepad, random letters, unreadable text, but now my PC associates it with notepad.

Two questions:

1) This won't affect my game at all, correct?
2) If it's possible to edit unlocks, I'd like to know that. If not, what's the easiest way to get cryomancer? Ice does so little damage that even with many, many hours in, I'm at less than 200K on an archmage focused on ice damage.

Really glad to see this game still thriving. I picked it up back in 2013, so I thought no way there'd be people on these forums, but sure enough here you all are!

1) No, and with some effort you can remove the association.

2) Try Wyrmic or Alchemist, maybe Necromancer if you aren't in a rush.

Wyrmic with the hittingest two-hander you can find is probably the fastest way to rush cold damage. Ice claw can probably generate a few thousand cold damage per use.

if you have lvl 40+ possessor, just get the body with ice claw and go fight a few dozens of enemies. note that damage counts even if it was bigger than 100% of hp pool of the monster. e.g. you hit monster with 2k hp for 4k cold dmg via ice claw. you just got 4k dmg towards the achievement

For the OP's reference, world.teaw is basically a renamed zip file, so you'll want to use your favorite archive-juggling program instead of notepad. For further reference, while achievements do live in world.teaw, I'm fairly certain that unlocks do not; look for a file named "allow_build.profile" somewhere near where your save files live.
