When I propose a nerf in chat or elsewhere it's practically always met with "I think we should buff everything to Shalore's level instead" almost unanimously, that's how power creep happens (especially considering shalore is pretty much always considered the best choice for everything, so imo it also needs a nerf).
This is the best point made so far in the thread. Whenever I pick a race, I feel that the best choice would be Shalore, or maybe Ogre in some cases. It hardly matters which class (Oozemancer obviously being the one exception).

This is bad, because it reduces variety. I still play other races than Shalore and Ogre, but only because I really want variation, even though I know that other races are simply weaker.

So if nothing else, can we please apply at least a very mild nerf?
Shalore and ogre are both getting nerfed in the next patch

What's sad is these changes to curb the abuses & exploits & crutches of powergamers on Insane+ end up hurting the newer to average players more. The difference between say me and Jenx for one example, is vast. She's making progress on Madness while I am still dying to the bosses on Normal.

I hope the nerfs are relatively minor, and like other players have said, boost up the racials of other races to make them more attractive options. Would be sad if it were like other games where the nerf bat swings so hard it kills off certain classes rather than making them closer to equal with the others.

You really think new players know how to abuse stair dancing, how to abuse Timeless or have made a comparative study of Cornac vs Ogres ??
No this really doesnt affect new players

These nerfs are just making the game a bit more challenging, the game has been doing nothing but getting easier for a LONG TIME now. But yeah, most real noobs won't notice these changes :)

These changes just reduce the numbers on the exploits, they're still there. Plus all the weak races got (mostly marginal, but there are possibly some gems) buffed too which is probably a lot better at helping newbs...

So when new players have asked which classes/races are best, the pros have been chiming in with all these secret exploits in mind?

Man up and play the game for real :x

using things as intended is a really strange definition of "exploit"

If a game does not specifically teach the player how to do something that is more effective than the methods that have been taught to the player, I would consider that something an exploit.

Simple definition to me.

Never did this game teach me anything about entering an area before I plan to clear it, in order to keep the monster level low. It also didn't teach me to close the program in task manager in order to re-roll my shops - but I did it sometimes. I would consider that an exploit as well.
